Be Authentically YOU: 3 Ways to Let Your Personality Shine Through in Your Brand!

I mentioned in my last post, that if you want to give your peeps an awesome impression + great experience with your business, your brand should totally “ooze” YOU!

That is to say, it should be a natural, seamless, authentic presentation – one that will show your ideal clients who you are + what your biz is all about, even without ever meeting you in person.

And yes, I know that’s a lot harder than it sounds! Great brands are living, breathing works-in-progress, and it takes lots of self-discovery and finesse to get it even close to “just right”.

So how do you show more of your authentic self in your brand?

color symbolismBe (Strategically) Colorful + Stylish: It seems obvious, but don’t overlook the power of color and style to convey your personality & mission to your audience. If you already have official brand colors and/or style, ask yourself “What do these represent to my tribe? Are my company colors a good fit for my brand? Are they still relevant, or is it time for an update?”. Check this color guide to find out what your colors stand for. And if you don’t know what brand colors or styles would work best for your business, I can help!

Be Consistent: If you were eating a piece of toast, you’d spread it nice and evenly with butter and/or jam, so you get to experience them in every bite – rather than getting one big bite of butter, a bunch of dry toast bites, and big hunk of jam, right? So do the same with your brand experience! Show the same brand aesthetic (with its’ values, impressions, and impact) on your website, as on Facebook, on your e-mails to them, or on Twitter. It makes it so much easier to gain rapport with your tribe, when they can clearly see the same fantastic YOU in all the different ways you communicate with them!

Throw in a healthy dose of the real YOU. I know, it should be easy to be ourselves online, but it’s not! So make a point of it: aim to write like you’re talking to a friend, amplify your usual personality on video, use natural language in your tweets, and so forth. The difference between “Extra! Extra! Read all about my glorious new article/program/book” and “I just created this krazy new thing to help you do XYZ, hope you like it!” is miles wide. Which one would you click on?
