I used to think I was the only one who has such “obstacles” to overcome…but of course, that’s baloney. Everyone has some struggle; some obstacle to hold them back – whether it’s seen by others, or known only to the person dealing with it.
What’s yours? Perhaps you have a “disability” like mine, that makes life in general more of a challenge…or you’re trying to build your itty-biz on the side, while working 40+ hours a week in a day job, and raising two children…or you’ve got a family/marriage/health-related crisis on your hands, that’s taking you away from your business and draining your energy.
Whatever it is, chances are you’ve got a lot more good (awesome! FANTASTIC!!) stuff going for you than you have disadvantages. So don’t let the obstacle(s) keep you from pursuing your dreams and tackling your business goals head-on!
Build it with what you have…
You know how people who lose (or are born without) certain limbs can learn to compensate? Like the armless girl who applies makeup with her feet, and the disabled painter who holds the brush in his mouth? Likewise, you can find ways around your difficulties:
FOCUS on what you have (not on what you don’t). Use your most excellent gifts and blessings, to your own advantage. And don’t be afraid to ask for help if/when you need it.
Follow the SCHEDULE that works for you; depending on when you’re at your peak performance, and the time you have available. 8-to-5 is for day jobs; as an entrepreneur, you’re in charge – and you can work whatever days/hours/number of hours you like!
Have PATIENCE + DETERMINATION. If, for example, you have other commitments, and can only work two hours a day on your biz – acknowledge & accept that it will take longer to build (and, make those two hours really count!). Whatever your timeline is, if you’re truly passionate about what you’re doing, and believe in it 110%, you can swallow that impatience – and be “in it for the long haul”.
I’d like to wrap this up, with the definition of my favorite word in the entrepreneurial vocabulary: PERSEVERANCE!
persevere: to persist in anything undertaken; maintain a purpose in spite of difficulty, obstacles, or discouragement; continue steadfastly.
and also steadfastly: 1) fixed in direction; steadily directed: a steadfast gaze. 2) firm in purpose, resolution, faith, attachment, etc., as a person: a steadfast friend. 3) unwavering, as resolution, faith, adherence, etc. 4) firmly established, as an institution or a state of affairs. 5) firmly fixed in place or position.
