Build up your business, Part 3: Marketing Strategically
Now that you’ve made your brand into a glowing reflection of your company and everything it stands for, you’ll want to ramp up your marketing efforts to put your brand in front of as many potential customers as possible.
Here are some tried-and-true marketing tips, broken down into three groups:
- Online/internet: Establish a strong presence for your business via your website, blog, and social networking platforms. Run advertisements wherever your potential customers hang out (for example, if you sell fresh-cooked organic meals, place an ad on a health eating blog; if you own a salon or spa, place ads on local news sites or beauty/fashion blogs).
- Person-to-person networking: Give several of your business cards or brochures to your most loyal/enthusiastic customers, so they can share their love of your products/services with others. Attend conferences, trade shows, and other events in your industry, to introduce your products/services to new people. Offer coupons and loyalty discounts, and give your customers two – one for them, and one to give a friend.
- Paper advertising: Send direct mail campaigns to people in your target market, to locals, and/or to your current customers. Strategically place your business cards or brochures where potential customers will find them. Advertise in your local newspaper, or in magazines or newsletters that pertain to your industry.
